We focus on proactive risk minimisation in the environmental area. Relevant risks are regularly identified and assessed in order to develop and implement targeted measures. Emergency preparedness measures are documented and regulated in corresponding emergency plans so that we can react quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
The fulfilment of all relevant legal requirements and additional requirements is a matter of course for us. These standards are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that they are integrated into our environmental management system and support our sustainability goals.

Windhoff has achieved silver in the EcoVadis sustainability ranking, placing it in the top 15% of companies assessed. The EcoVadis rating covers a variety of non-financial management systems, including environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
The silver ranking demonstrates Windhoff's commitment to sustainable and responsible behaviour, which is continuously reviewed and improved to meet the highest standards.
The heating system was included in the construction of Halls 3 and 4 from the outset. For reasons of energy efficiency, the halls were equipped with concrete core activation, which is operated by heat pumps. This technology utilises solid concrete ceilings to store heat and cooling and offers several advantages:
Energy-efficient cooling in summer: passive cooling is economical and environmentally friendly.
Lower heating and cooling output: The system works more efficiently than conventional systems.
Time-delayed effect: Concrete core activation utilises the slow, time-delayed heat storage of concrete.
Some of our cardboard packaging is recycled into packaging padding in a workshop for people with disabilities.
This initiative both reduces our waste and provides employment opportunities for disadvantaged people.
A solar system with a peak output of 100 kW/h has been installed on our new assembly hall.
This system covers around 12% of our total electricity consumption and therefore makes a significant contribution to reducing our CO2 footprint.
